Dual Language Education at the German School Chicago

Take advantage of your child's window of opportunity for learning a second language easily and naturally.

•Enrich and enhance your child's mental development.

•Increase your child's ability to have more flexibility in thinking, greater sensitivity to language, and a better ear for listening.

•Improve your child's understanding of his or her native language.

•Give your child the ability to communicate with people she or he would not otherwise know.

•Open the door to other cultures.

•Increase understanding, appreciation and empathy for people from other cultures.

•Give your child a head start in language requirements for college.

•Increase career and educational opportunities in fields where language fluency is a real asset.

The German School Chicago intends to build the curriculum around the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. This program is internationally regarded as a superior curriculum, recognized by colleges and universities throughout the world. An IB education at German School Chicago will provide the rigor, perspective and transferability Chicago children require.

"Students will inquire, make connections, develop conceptual understanding, think critically, work collaboratively, consider multiple perspectives, construct meaning, reflect, take action."

- International Baccalaureate, June 2007

The program is organized around six inter-disciplinary themes of global significance intended to help children engage with the world around them. These themes align with the values and approach of the German School Chicago.
